Voracious Tendencies Black Barleywine is our newest barrel-aged offering and oh wow! It is a tasty treat. Taking inspiration from some newer iterations of this style as well as a distant memory of Arizona Wilderness Brewing mashing an Imperial Stout recipe and a Barleywine recipe into one batch we decided to take components of our Award Winning Barleywine and Award Winning Imperial Stout and combine that at a ratio of 70:30 Barleywine:Imperial Stout. The resulting brew has rich dried fruit character, caramel and toasted malt layered with dark chocolate and espresso powder. We had to barrel-age this luxurious beer in two different barrels: rum and bourbon. Aged for 15 months, these barrels add their own unique character to each beer. Catch these tasty treats while you can as this was a limited run due to the extended aging and loss associated with that.
