Golden Heart Strong School Lunch Fundraiser

Starting on April 27, for every pint or 4-pack of Golden Heart Off-Dry Cider or Short Days Golden Ale purchased from our taproom, Black Spruce Brewing Company will donate $1 to the FNSB School District's Nutrition Services Fund. Donations to this fund help ensure that students who do not have funds still have access to nutritious lunch and breakfast meals at FNSB schools. This fundraiser is organized in conjunction with Golden Heart Strong, and all funds raised will be donated directly to the FNSB School District's Nutrition Services Fund. April 27 also marks the start of early voting for the FNSB's special election on Proposition A. Early voting will take place April 27-May 2, and election day will be May 7. All FNSB voters are encouraged to participate in this special election.

Taproom FAQs

We’ve put together some answers to common questions in the hope we can save you some time, but please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have a different question.

Where are you located?

We are located in South Fairbanks at 3290 Peger Rd STE B. Just south of the Mitchell Expressway.

What are your hours of operation?

Our taproom is open to serve you Monday through Friday 3PM to 8PM and Saturday 12PM to 8PM. At present, we stop service at 8PM, and per Alaska state law, all customers need to be off of our licenses premise by 9:30PM.

8PM close seems early. What's the deal?

Until December 31, 2023, Alaska state law mandated that breweries had to stop service promptly at 8PM. As of January 1, 2024, breweries are able to continue service up until 9PM, and all customers must be out by 9:30PM. Sound weird? It gets weirder. Per state law, we are also subject to a limit on how much we can serve on-premise: 36 ounces per person per day. We are not able to have televisions on-premise and are limited to a maximum of four live events per license per year (plus, we have to apply and pay for a permit to put on these events). Yeah, we know.

Can I get beer to go?

Yes! Each visitor may take up to 5.167 gallons of beer to-go per day. We offer 1/6 barrel (5.167 gallon) kegs, growler fills and 4-packs to-go. Need more than 5.167 gallons? We recommend that you either bring a friend or come back tomorrow!

Do you ship beer?

As of February 19, 2024, we are offering direct-to-consumer shipments of our beer and cider to addresses (no PO boxes) on Alaska's road system. Some order limitations apply, and you can start an order by clicking the "purchase for delivery" button on the page of any of our brews or ciders on this website. We are working to add additional service areas and will update our website as we do.

How do I sign up for the newsletter?

Scroll down to the bottom of this page, and put your email address in the newsletter signup input field.

What size pours do you offer? Can I get a flight?

We offer a variety of sizes at a multitude of price points for your tasting requirements. Not sure what to try? Ask a server for some direction and a sample. And yes, our flights consists of three 4oz pours. You may legally have three flights to hit your 36oz limit per day.

Only open until 9:00PM and four live events? That doesn't seem like much.

Rest assured, we are working on it.
